Phases 1 & 2 – Foundations and Christ-Centered Formation

GREATER FAITH INSTITUTE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES

Foundations of Biblical and Theological Studies

Program Introduction

Building Biblical Knowledge, Strengthening Faith, and Preparing Leaders for Kingdom Service

Begin your theological journey through a comprehensive study of God's Word, designed to establish a strong biblical foundation, deepen spiritual understanding, and prepare students for effective Christian ministry.

The Foundations of Biblical and Theological Studies program introduces students to the essential teachings of Scripture, the unfolding of God's redemptive plan, the historical and cultural contributions of people of African descent within the biblical narrative, and the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Through structured biblical instruction, theological reflection, and practical spiritual application, students will develop a greater understanding of Scripture while strengthening their personal relationship with God.

Our purpose is not simply to increase biblical knowledge, but to develop spiritually mature believers who demonstrate Christian character, sound doctrine, and a commitment to serving God and humanity.

Foundational Courses

COURSE 1: BIBLE FUNDAMENTALS

This course introduces students to the foundational principles of biblical study, including the origin, inspiration, authority, structure, and interpretation of Scripture. Students will explore the relationship between the Old and New Testaments and develop essential skills for understanding and applying God's Word.

COURSE 2: GENERAL BIBLE STUDIES

This course provides an overview of the major books, historical events, individuals, covenants, and theological themes throughout Scripture. Special attention is given to understanding God's progressive revelation and His plan of redemption from Genesis through Revelation.

COURSE 3: THE AFRICAN PRESENCE IN THE BIBLE

This course examines the historical, geographical, and cultural presence of African peoples and regions within the biblical narrative. Students will explore biblical references to Egypt, Cush, Ethiopia, and other African connections while distinguishing documented historical evidence from traditional interpretations.

COURSE 4: THE LIFE AND TEACHINGS OF JESUS CHRIST

This course offers an in-depth examination of the birth, life, ministry, miracles, parables, death, resurrection, and continuing significance of Jesus Christ. Students will study the Gospels to better understand Christ's mission, His teachings concerning the Kingdom of God, and His example of servant leadership.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of these foundational studies, students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a foundational understanding of the structure, authority, and central teachings of the Bible.
  2. Explain major biblical events, covenants, and themes relating to God's redemptive plan.
  3. Identify significant African geographical, historical, and cultural connections within Scripture.

Phases 3 & 4 – Interpretation, Doctrine, and Apostolic Insight

Move beyond foundational learning into the rich world of biblical interpretation, theological understanding, and faith defense. As you explore Hermeneutics, Systematic Theology, Apologetics, the Life of Paul, and the Book of Revelation, you will gain the tools needed to accurately interpret Scripture, confidently articulate your beliefs, and appreciate God's unfolding plan throughout history. These phases challenge students to think critically, minister effectively, and embrace the hope found in Christ's ultimate victory.

Phases 5 & 6 – Leadership, Ministry, and Life Application

Put your learning into practice as you develop essential ministry skills and leadership competencies. Through Evangelism, Teacher Training, and the Capstone Life Experience Project, you will learn how to effectively communicate the Gospel, disciple others, and reflect on your personal ministry journey. These final phases bring together everything you have learned, empowering you to serve with confidence, lead with purpose, and make a lasting Kingdom impact wherever God calls you.
